Every meaningful human connection begins with a risk.
To let someone into our world is to expose everything we usually keep hidden... our dreams, our fears, our contradictions, and the parts of ourselves we have learned to protect. We offer no guarantees, nor can we ask for any in return. Only the willingness to be equally vulnerable.
Perhaps that is what makes human relationships so extraordinary. They are never complete, never entirely understood, never quite what they were yesterday. They exist somewhere between the fear of losing ourselves and the possibility of discovering something we could never have found alone.
All we can do is take the risk.
And hope someone is willing to take it with us. -
